East CLT Connector

Project Overview

Building a visual identity around connection, culture, and community.

East CLT Connector is a community-centered initiative designed to connect neighborhoods, parks, schools, businesses, and destinations across East Charlotte.

Originally developed under the working name Albemarle Cultural Trail, the project needed a public-facing identity that reflected both the history and future of the community. Community input helped shape the final name and direction.

The Challenge

Create an identity that honors East Charlotte’s history and cultural diversity while expressing connection, movement, optimism, and growth.

The Idea

The identity was designed to work beyond the logo and across the future corridor, including:

  • Brand identity and logo system
  • Color and typography
  • Digital and social applications
  • Wayfinding and signage
  • Environmental graphics
  • Murals, mosaics, lighting, and placemaking

The Outcome

The result was a flexible visual identity that gave the initiative a recognizable public presence and a stronger sense of place.

More importantly, it created a foundation that could grow with the project, helping connect communications, environments, and experiences throughout East Charlotte.
