Apparo
Brand Guide
Project Overview
This project focused on refreshing and organizing the Apparo brand into a clear, scalable identity system. Apparo is a nonprofit that helps other nonprofits access affordable technology solutions, skilled corporate volunteers, and project support that amplifies their impact. Before this work, the brand needed a more unified visual direction and a formal guide that could bring consistency across communications, collateral, presentations, and digital materials. The final brand guide was designed to become the foundation for how Apparo presents itself across every touchpoint.
The Challenge
The challenge was to refine the logo, clarify the brand voice, and build a visual system that made Apparo feel both professional and approachable. As a nonprofit serving other nonprofits through technology, the brand needed to communicate trust, clarity, and capability without feeling overly corporate or technical. It also needed practical standards for logo use, typography, color, imagery, stationery, and graphic elements so the identity could remain consistent across print and digital applications.
The Idea
The identity was built around making technology feel human, accessible, and optimistic. A clean IT inspired aesthetic was balanced with warmth through bright color, approachable photography, and typography that felt structured but not rigid.
The Structure
A full identity system was developed to organize the brand across multiple applications. It also established a framework for how the brand could scale consistently across presentations, print templates, business cards, envelopes, and other communications. This structure ensured that the Apparo identity could be used clearly and consistently by internal teams and outside partners.
The brand guide included:
Logo standards
Typography
Color system
Stationery
Imagery direction
Graphic elements
Layout examples for future materials
The Execution
The execution centered on turning the refreshed identity into a practical and visually disciplined brand guide. The logo system formalized the relationship between the logotype, tagline, and icon, while typography paired Montserrat as the primary typeface with American Typewriter as a secondary accent face to create both clarity and personality. The color system combined blue and bright red as signature colors, supported by green, light blue, peach, and neutral grays to create a flexible but recognizable palette. Photography direction emphasized bright, friendly, collaborative moments that make technology feel approachable, while graphic elements and layout examples showed how the identity could extend into brochures, stationery, and brand materials.
The Outcome
The result was a cohesive identity system that gave Apparo a stronger and more consistent brand presence. The final guide created a clear foundation for future communications by aligning logo usage, typography, color, imagery, and collateral into one unified visual language. It helped position Apparo as both technology capable and mission driven, giving the organization a brand system that could support growth across print, digital, and presentation materials.
